Product Information

What is polyurethane (PU) decorative material?

Polyurethane (PU) is a synthetic polymer material widely used in architectural decorations. PU decorative products are molded from high-density closed-cell foam, offering the visual appearance of traditional materials like wood or plaster while providing superior performance characteristics including water resistance, light weight, and durability.

How long do PU decorative products last?

When properly installed and maintained, PU decorative products can last 20-30 years or more. Unlike wood, PU does not rot, warp, or crack with humidity changes. Unlike plaster, PU is impact resistant and will not crack during transport or installation.

Are PU products waterproof?

Yes. PU is completely waterproof and can be used in wet areas including bathrooms, kitchens, and even outdoor covered applications. Unlike wood or MDF, PU will not swell, warp, or deteriorate when exposed to water.

Can PU products be used outdoors?

Standard PU products are designed for indoor use. For covered exterior applications (under eaves, porches), our exterior-grade products with UV inhibitors are recommended. Full sun exposure may cause surface degradation over extended periods.

What fire rating do your products have?

Our standard PU products meet Class E (EN 13501-1) fire classification. Fire-retardant versions meeting Class B are available for commercial projects with stricter fire code requirements. Please specify fire-retardant requirements when requesting quotes.

Do your products contain harmful chemicals?

Our PU products are manufactured without formaldehyde or other harmful chemicals. They emit zero VOCs and meet indoor air quality standards for residential and commercial interiors. Safety data sheets are available upon request.

Installation

What tools do I need to install PU products?

PU products can be installed with standard woodworking tools: miter saw with fine-tooth blade, finish nails, construction adhesive, sandpaper, and standard painting supplies. No specialized equipment is required. The light weight of PU makes single-person installation possible for most applications.

Can I install PU products myself or do I need a professional?

DIY installation is feasible for homeowners with basic carpentry skills. However, for complex projects, large-scale commercial installations, or applications requiring precise fitting, professional installation is recommended. Our products are designed for straightforward installation.

What adhesive do you recommend?

Polyurethane construction adhesives such as PL Premium or equivalent provide the best bond. Apply adhesive in a zigzag pattern to the back of the product and press firmly against the mounting surface. For ceiling applications, supplement adhesive with finish nails until adhesive cures.

How do I cut PU products?

Use a miter saw with a fine-tooth blade (40+ teeth for 10-inch blade). Support long pieces to prevent vibration. For inside corners, coped cuts typically provide better appearance than mitered cuts. carbide-tipped blades last longer when cutting production volumes.

Can PU products be glued directly to walls or ceilings?

Yes. Construction adhesive provides excellent bonding to properly prepared surfaces. Ensure surfaces are clean, dry, and free from loose material. For very smooth surfaces (painted drywall), light sanding improves adhesion. Do not apply adhesive inside LED channels.

How do I handle corners and joints?

Outside corners typically use mitered joints. Inside corners are best handled with coped joints, where the profile of one piece is cut to match the profile of the other. Use paintable caulk or wood filler for small gaps. For large gaps, backer rod and caulk provide flexible repair.

Painting & Finishing

Do your products come pre-primed?

Most of our products are factory-primed with a high-quality primer specifically formulated for PU surfaces. This factory priming eliminates on-site priming and significantly reduces finishing time. Simply apply topcoat paint directly to the primed surface.

What type of paint should I use?

Standard interior latex paints work well on primed PU products. For high-traffic or high-humidity areas, premium acrylic latex or bathroom/kitchen formulas provide better durability. Avoid solvent-based paints unless specifically formulated for plastics.

How many coats of paint are needed?

Due to the smooth, consistent surface of primed PU products, most installations require only one coat of topcoat paint. Dark colors or high-sheen finishes may require two coats for complete coverage. Always allow paint to dry fully between coats.

Can I stain PU products to look like wood?

Our stainable-density products can accept gel stain for wood-appearance finishes. Apply gel stain per manufacturer instructions, then seal with clear topcoat. Results vary; testing on a sample piece is recommended before full application.

How do I touch up minor damage?

Minor dents or holes can be filled with lightweight spackle or vinyl spackling. Sand smooth when dry, apply primer, then topcoat. The paintable surface allows seamless touch-up repairs. Keep some leftover paint for future touch-ups.

Ordering & Shipping

What is your minimum order quantity (MOQ)?

MOQ varies by product type: standard profiles typically 100-200 linear meters; custom profiles require 500+ meters due to tooling costs; decorative pieces often available from 10 pieces. We offer sample orders for quality verification before bulk orders.

How long does production take?

Standard products ship within 15-20 days from order confirmation. Custom profiles requiring new tooling take 25-35 days. Large orders may require additional production time. Rush orders are sometimes available with premium pricing.

What are your payment terms?

Standard payment terms are 30% deposit, 70% balance before shipment. For established customers, credit terms may be available. We accept wire transfer, PayPal (small orders), and Letter of Credit for large orders.

What shipping methods do you offer?

We handle full container (20ft or 40ft) and less-than-container-load (LCL) shipments. Door-to-door delivery is available through our logistics partners. We also support consolidation services for mixed-product shipments.

Can I get samples before placing a bulk order?

Yes. Sample orders are available for most products. Sample fees are typically credited toward bulk orders. Shipping costs for samples are paid by the buyer. Contact us with your product requirements to request samples.

Do you ship to residential addresses?

Technical Specifications

What is the density of your PU products?

Our standard products range from 240-320 kg/m³ depending on profile complexity and performance requirements. Higher density products offer better impact resistance and paint hold; lower densities are more cost-effective for non-structural applications.

What temperature range can your products withstand?

Our standard products maintain structural integrity from -30°C to +80°C. This range covers virtually all interior applications and most covered exterior uses. Thermal expansion is minimal due to the closed-cell structure.

How do PU products perform in humid environments?

PU products are ideal for humid environments. The closed-cell structure absorbs virtually no moisture, preventing the swelling, warping, and mold growth common with wood-based materials. This makes PU ideal for bathrooms, pools, and coastal applications.

What screw-holding capacity do your products have?

Our high-density PU products hold screws comparable to softwood lumber. Standard wood screws provide adequate holding for most applications. For heavy loads, use expansion anchors or through-bolts. Pre-drilling is recommended for cleaner fastener placement.

Are your products compatible with standard construction practices?

Yes. PU products are designed to integrate seamlessly with standard trim carpentry. Standard finish nails, construction adhesive, and finishing techniques all work well. No specialized tools or training are required.
