Easy Install Wall Molding: Quick Tips Using Construction Adhesive

Construction adhesive is the best adhesive for installing PU wall molding. The adhesive grabs quickly, holds strongly, and allows for some adjustment during the install. The right construction adhesive and the right technique make the install fast and reliable.

The most common construction adhesive for PU molding is a polyurethane-based adhesive in a caulk gun tube. The adhesive is applied in a continuous bead on the back of the molding, the molding is pressed to the wall, and the adhesive grabs within 30 to 60 seconds. The molding is then secured with a few brad nails to hold it in place while the adhesive cures (typically 24 hours).

The right technique for applying the adhesive is a continuous S-bead or a serpentine bead on the back of the molding, with the bead approximately 5 to 10 millimeters from the edge. The S-bead pattern provides a good distribution of adhesive, and the offset from the edge prevents the adhesive from squeezing out at the edges.

The right technique for pressing the molding is to align the molding with the layout marks on the wall, press the molding firmly against the wall, and hold it in place for 30 to 60 seconds while the adhesive grabs. The molding should be aligned to the marks, and any adjustment should be made within the first minute.

The right technique for securing the molding is to drive a brad nail every 400 to 600 millimeters along the length of the molding, with the nails at the top and the bottom of the molding (for a vertical strip) or at each end and the middle (for a horizontal strip). The nails hold the molding in place while the adhesive cures, and the nails are set below the surface and filled with paintable filler.

A practical note on the surface. The wall surface should be clean, dry, and sound before the adhesive is applied. Any loose paint, wallpaper, or debris should be removed, and the wall should be wiped with a damp cloth to remove dust. A clean surface is the foundation for a strong adhesive bond.

A practical note on the temperature. The adhesive works best at temperatures between 10 and 30 degrees Celsius. Below 10 degrees, the adhesive cures slowly; above 30 degrees, the adhesive cures too quickly. The install should be scheduled for a day with moderate temperatures, and the adhesive should be stored at room temperature before use.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is your factory MOQ?

A: MOQ depends on the product line: stock cornice and skirting profiles start at 200 linear meters per shipment, wall panels at 50 square meters, and custom OEM/ODM profiles at 500 linear meters or 1,000 pieces. Sample orders are accepted for most catalog items, with sample fees credited toward the first bulk order.

Q: What are your standard lead times?

A: Stock catalog items ship within 7–15 days of order confirmation. Custom tooling for OEM profiles takes 25–35 days for sample approval plus 20–30 days for bulk production. Air freight from Guangzhou / Shenzhen takes 5–10 days to most major ports; sea freight takes 18–32 days depending on destination.

Q: Do you offer OEM and ODM services?

A: Yes. Our factory offers full OEM (your brand, our tooling) and ODM (your 3D model or sample, our design team reverse-engineers and produces custom tooling) services. We can sign NDAs, work from hand sketches, photographs, or CAD files, and ship samples for approval before bulk production.

Q: What are your payment terms?

A: Standard terms are 30% T/T deposit on order confirmation and 70% balance against a copy of the B/L. For new buyers we also accept 100% L/C at sight. Long-term partners can apply for open-account terms after three successful orders.
