PU Panel Moulding: Classic Wall Treatments Made Easy

PU panel moulding is a factory-made PU strip, designed to be applied to a wall to create a panel effect. The moulding is the same product as a wall frame molding strip, but the application is typically a more developed panel layout — a grid of panels, a chair rail plus grid, a wainscot, or a more complex pattern.

The most common PU panel moulding application is a classic wainscot. A chair rail at 90 to 100 centimeters off the floor, with a grid of rectangular panels below the chair rail. The panels are typically 1:1.5 or 1:2 width-to-height ratio, with a 30 to 50 millimeter flat or stepped moulding.

A second common application is a chair rail plus grid above. A chair rail at the same height, with a grid of panels above the chair rail (extending to the picture rail or the cornice). The grid is the same panel ratio as the wainscot, with the moulding matching the chair rail.

A third common application is a full-wall panel layout. A grid of panels covering the entire wall, from baseboard to cornice. The panels are the same ratio, and the moulding is the same profile throughout.

A fourth common application is a single oversized panel. A large panel, 1.5 to 2.5 meters wide, centered on the wall. The panel is defined by a single moulding frame, with the inside of the frame in a contrasting color or a different material.

For sourcing, PU panel moulding is a stock product at most factories.
